Description

Total cost is $200, a nonrefundable deposit of $115 is required at time of reservation.

The drum is known as the shaman's horse and it is what we journey on. The best way to obtain a drum is to make your own, one that is in tune with you. So even if you have a drum this is a chance to make something special for you.We will be making our own drums in a sacred way in a process that some call Drum Birthing. We will use the shamanic journey to clarify our intention and we will ask for guidance in making our drums and beaters.

About the drums: The drum we like best is a 16 inch frame drum with Elk skin on a round maple laminate frame. This is a strong drum that has great sound as well as a very pleasing appearance. The beaters a hard sticks with tanned leather covers.

When: We will make drums on Saturday September 9,2017 from 9:30 to about 4 PM. On Thursday evening, September 7, 2017, from 7:30 to 9 PM, we will gather to journey for our drums intention and to meet our drum skins. (This evening session is optional but I encourage you to take part in it if at all possible. This is when we will ask for blessings on our skins and journey for a drum intention. Then we will we put the skins in water so they can soak for a couple of days. I will journey and soak the skin for anyone who cannot make this pre-session.)

Where: at my home in Malvern PA, directions will be given as needed.

Cost: $200 includes all materials for making an 16-inch round frame drum using Elk skin, and a beater, as well as shamanic teachings. If you would like a different size or skin, let me know and we can figure the difference in cost of expenses. Above the cost of materials will be a suggested donation for the teachings which amount depends on the number of people making drums. More about that on the Drum Making page at www.jimfrank.net. (my guess is that we will have at least a half dozen folks)

I need more than three weeks to get delivery of the drum materials so you must get to me a deposit of $115 before March 15, 2017. So send a check today to Jim Frank, PO Box 503, Malvern, PA 19355.
